Out of Office: Holiday Break
The ARCH team will be out of the office next week for the holiday. During this period, tickets may take longer to respond to than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Upcoming Rockfish Network Outage
Rockfish will experience brief network outages between 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 23rd. Expect network downtime lasting 15-20 minutes multiple times within that timeframe during upgrades. During these interruptions, there will be no connections to login nodes. All enterprise networks will be impacted but no internal networks. This should not impact a running job unless that job requires internet access.
Globus Connectors
Starting on January 2nd, 2024 JHU’s Globus subscription will add two connectors to Cloud providers: AWS and OneDrive. To connect to your OneDrive account, connect to Globus as described here, then search for collection “ARCH OneDrive”. You will need to authenticate to your “my.jh.edu” and then you will have a list of your files and folders under the JHU OneDrive. Instructions for AWS will be available soon.
Rockfish Cluster Queue Configuration
As of January 9th, 2024, partitions and cues will be reconfigured to allow more effective utilization of resources. We have made a video that describes the new configuration for the Rockfish cluster. View here
Staff Spotlight: Ricardo Jacomini
Next in our Staff Spotlight series, we speak with Ricardo Jacomini, assistant research scientist of the ARCH team. Ricardo began his journey at Hopkins in 2018 as a Postdoctoral fellow. Following that, he contributed to ARCH as a Software Engineer for two years before transitioning to a new role as an Assistant Research Scientist. Learn more about Jacomini’s work here.

ARCH will be providing the following training sessions in the month of January:
1. General Linux and Rockfish Queueing System
- Date: Wednesday, January 17th, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

2. Navigating Rockfish and New Queueing Configuration
- Date: Wednesday, January 17th, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
- Location: Bloomberg (P&A) 475
Attendance on-premise is strongly recommended but sessions can be attended via Zoom
